Our master bedroom has expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that face west towards the mountains. Like the windows in the living room, the windows had a privacy screen on the outside, heavy curtains on the inside, and 6' tall juniper bushes blocking almost all natural light from entering the room. After removing these obstructions, we took out the carpet and installed new red oak hardwood floors. Like all the other rooms in the house, we painted the walls a bright white. Our design strategy in this room was to pair vintage furnishings with modern touches. We particularly like Target’s Project 62 line since it is midcentury inspired.
